Amelies on Pokolbin Mountain
Amelies is located on an historic property , which was settled by the Matthews family in 1880. Escape to rural tranquillity reminiscent of the countryside of the south of France, with rolling hills, grazing cattle and beautiful vistas. Sitting perched on the Brokenback Range, with sweeping views over the Hunter Valley vineyards to the Barrington tops, Amelies provides a romantic setting for a couple to totally relax in private seclusion. The double spa bath has postcard views ( as does the toilet !).
Amelies is just as special if you wish to come on your own to unwind, paint, write, bird watch, bike or walk over farmland or numerous walking trails on our 1000 acre property and adjoining Pokolbin State Forest.The cottage is fully self contained, with a kitchen and outdoor bbq area, a breakfast hamper is provided for you to enjoy at your leisure. It is five minutes to wineries, golf and world class restaurants, yet you are in a world of your own.
On The Property
Five generations of our family have farmed the amazing Pokolbin Mountain area. You will be able to enjoy the tranquility or our working property, surrounded by walking and mountain bike trails for you to explore. The rolling hills are reminiscent of the Tuscan Countryside, with grazing cattle, and horses in a beautiful setting to calm city nerves.
The Cottage
Lovingly created using timbers sourced from the property and recycled materials, Amelies is fresh and picturesque.
The interior is bright and clean with white rendered walls and polished bluegum floors. For a touch of the European, there is a marble Juliet balcony suspended over a stunning view of the vineyards below – a perfect spot for a private wine, or coffee.
The studio style living area has a queen sized bed. The cottage is kept warm and cosy in winter with a gas fired fireplace ,and reverse cycle air-conditioning. For summer there are ceiling fans and air conditioning, although the beautiful mountain breezes often mean that the use of the air conditioner is unnecessary.
A double spa bath sits under the picture window in the large bathroom, there is also a separate shower.
The kitchen provides all the necessary equipment to be self sufficient, and the private terrace has bbq facilities.
The cottage has a range of Dvds for you to enjoy. Little touches include binoculars to appreciate the birds and wildlife ,and candles to add a little romance.
